FRITKOT
Fritkots, These little buildings are an integral part of the Belgian landscape, whether in town or in the countryside. They are culturally ingrained and their frequentation punctuates the places where they are established.
The object of the competition is to interpret this object in order to create a new icon for Brussels.
Instead of trying to create a new icon that might never be adopted by the people it seemed easier and obvious that the support of the fritkot should already be an element of the Brussels landscape.
The specific Brussels’ old tramways appeared to us as the ideal response. Its obvious link with the traditional expression of the fritkot (diverted vehicles) will arouse the interest of the followers of Belgian gastronomy. In addition, it is intrinsically linked with the cityscape of the capital and it has a suitable interior configuration.
